Design Principal & President

Rob MacNeille has been practicing architectural design for more than 30 years, designing, restoring and renovating - inventing and reinventing - thoughtfully built spaces for personal, institutional and commercial use. With a focus on fine residential architecture, and a reverence for his New England roots, Rob draws inspiration from the traditional Master Builder model, where craft and design reinforce one another at each phase of a project. It is with this approach, that he co-founded the firm, Carpenter & MacNeille Architects and Builders, Inc. in 1996.

Rob’s significant contributions to the field have been acknowledged with awards like the 2013 Bulfinch Award from the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, the 2012 Pacesetter Award from Custom Homes and the 2010 Dream Homes Award for overall design excellence of the Selkirk Ledge project in Annisquam. His work has been lauded in national and international design publications and his clients count on him for unparalleled, personal service. Rob holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from Wesleyan University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Boston Society of Architects (BSA), a corporate trustee for the Trustees of Reservations, and a member of the Manchester Historical Commission.
