Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts
(2017) This 19th century shingle style cottage, transformed by more than a century of additions and alterations, has been returned to its original use as a family summer retreat on Boston’s North Shore. Although the exterior architectural envelope is composed of a mix of varied shingle style elements, the new owners focused on creating a calm and uniform look outside, with an open, clean contemporary interior. The public spaces on the first floor are almost completely seamless, even incorporating a frameless approach to the new porch, pool and cabana spaces beyond.
